Staggeringly, women represent almost a quarter of all homeless people and yet they are rarely the focus of media interest. Typically, homeless women are extremely suspicious of those outside their community and are therefore notoriously difficult to approach. On the streets of Paris, they have an existence that is a lot more vulnerable than that of their fellow men; their chances of survival are therefore very different. By nature they are more fragile; a reality that has dramatic consequences. Women are inherently much less resistant to the living conditions of the street: the cold, physical exhaustion, poor hygiene standards and alcohol abuse all take their toll at an accelerated rate. But worst of all, they are the victims of urban violence inflicted on them by men.
Filmed over many seasons, this documentary closely follows the progress of a number of different women on their difficult path back to social reintegration.
